Dr Sixtus C Mulenga
Founder and CEO
Dr Sixtus C Mulenga is a Mining-Geologist with over forty (40) years mining industry experience both in Zambia and the global mining industry, and is author of numerous papers on the mining industry and sustainability in the extractive industry. He is a stalwart of Zambia’s mining sector, renowned for his technical expertise, hands-on leadership and strong government and stakeholder relationships.
In addition to his position as former Partner and Country Manager of Tullow Oil Plc in Zambia, he is Executive Director and Chairman of Kagem Mining Ltd (owned by London-listed Gemfields), Non-Executive Chairman of Aggreko Zambia Ltd (London Listed Aggreko Plc) and Savenda General Insurance (SGI); a Non-Executive Director of African Explosives Zambia Plc and former Non-Executive Director of Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC Plc) and Mopani Copper Mines Ltd.
He is a founding member of the Zambia Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative Council (EITI) and the Zambia Chamber of Mines, Fellow of the Geological Society of London, member of the UK Institution of Mining and Metallurgy, a Chartered Engineer – UK Engineering Council, member of the International Mine Water Association and former President of the Geological Society of Zambia, member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia, past Council Member of the Zambia Chamber of Mines and past Chairman of the Zambia Branch of the Southern Africa Institution of Mining and Metallurgy. He is a founding Trustee and Board Member of the British Chamber of Commerce Zambia.
He was formerly Vice President for Konkola Copper Mines Plc, General Manager of Albidon Zambia Ltd and Group Consulting Hydro-Geologist for Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Ltd.
He is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Musamu Resources Ltd - an emerging wholly owned Zambian Mineral Exploration and Mining Company. The company is currently developing a large-scale greenfield Manganese Mine Project in Luapula Province of Zambia.
He holds a PhD Degree in Geology, MSc. Degree in Engineering Geology and DIC from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College of Science Technology & Medicine – University of London, UK, and a BSc. (Honours) Geology CNAA Degree from North London Polytechnic (Now the University of North London) UK.
At national and international levels, he has provided mining consultancy and technical advisory services to the Government of the Republic of Zambia and the World Bank.
